Watching the Grammy Awards on Sunday, some pro-lifers were pleasantly surprised to hear Beyonce honor motherhood and babies in the womb during her performance.

Beyonce won an Grammy for best urban contemporary album for “Lemonade,” but her performance while pregnant with twins was what pro-lifers noticed the most.

According to the Daily Caller, the star “wore a bejeweled gown and a gold crown atop her head as she performed a choreographed number that was dedicated to birth and motherhood.”

People on social media praised her for the performance and described it as “pro-life.”

During her acceptance speech, she also spoke about using her music to make a better world for children, saying:

It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty, so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror, first through their own families — as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House and the Grammys — and see themselves, and have no doubt that they’re beautiful, intelligent and capable. This is something I want for every child of every race. And I feel it’s vital that we learn from the past and recognize our tendencies to repeat our mistakes.

A few weeks ago, Beyonce announced her pregnancy with twins in a life-affirming way. “I have three hearts,” she wrote in reference to the twins. In doing so, she affirmed that babies in the womb are not only separate bodies from the mother but also unique and valuable individuals.

In 2013, she also was life-affirming toward babies in the womb when talking about her daughter, Blue Ivy, and another child who she miscarried.

“There’s no words that can express having a baby growing inside of you,” she said at the time. She also recalled hearing the baby’s heartbeat, saying that it “was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.”

However, the celebrity has never said she is pro-life. She has supported Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and other pro-abortion causes in the past.

Still, her life-affirming words are worth celebrating because they affirm to a huge audience that a baby’s life in the womb is unique, precious and worthy of protection.
