Gloria Steinem Says “Trump is Not My President.” Tells Abortion Advocates to Use Civil Disobedience

Abortion activist Gloria Steinem has signed on to lead the pro-abortion march in Washington DC to protest President Donald Trump.

Steinem will join with the Planned Parenthood abortion business and other leading abortion advocates for the January event. The event is part of standing up to the pro-life actions President Trump is expected to take to sign legislation that might include defunding the Planned Parenthood abortion company.

Steinem encouraged abortion advocates to engage in lobbying and pressuring lawmakers to oppose defunding Planned Parenthood. She says if those efforts fail that abortion proponents should consider civil disobedience.

And in supporting the pro-abortion March, Steinem says Donald Trump is not her president.

She said, “We have all the powers we had [before Trump was elected] of lobbying and pressuring and making clear that the political consequences are great. We may look up and feel powerless and think there’s nothing we can do, but it’s not true. There are things we can do at each level. And there’s always civil disobedience. Trump is not my president.”

The abortion backer also has a pro-feminist message for young girls.

Steinem told them to “trust the unique voice inside them. And to be sure and listen as much as they speak, so that they are honoring the other unique people outside them. It’s important for girls not to internalize a sense of passivity or inferiority or second-classness, and for boys not to internalize a sense of having to be stronger or superior or in control. What helps the most is for boys to be raised to raise children.”

Earlier this year Steinem drew eye-rolls from pro-life advocates after she claimed “Forced childbirth is the single biggest cause of global warming.”

Steinem began her 20-minute speech by promoting “reproductive rights.” She said: “Nothing but nothing is more important than ensuring our fundamental right to reproductive freedom. The principle that government power stops at our skin.”

She then went on to attribute global warming to “forced childbirth.” This comment reflects prior statements she made last year regarding Pope Francis and global warming. During an interview with Cosmopolitan, Steinem attributed global warming to the teachings of the Catholic Church on the sanctity of human life.

She said at the time, “…the human load on this earth is the biggest cause of global warming, and that is because of forcing women to have children they would not on their own choose to have…”

Steinem specifically linked global warming to Pope Francis: “I’m glad the Pope spoke out about global warming and it was very helpful, but does he know he’s causing it?”

Her answer to this is more abortions.
