Cicero, Ill., native Isabel Berrios had a lot to be thankful for when the holidays came around this year.

Back in 2010, Berrios was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After she beat cancer in 2011, Berrios’ doctor told her that she might never be able to have children.

And then a miracle happened.

According to WGN:

So last month, after a positive pregnancy test and getting confirmation from her doctor, she decided to share the amazing news with her family.

On November 5, with her siblings and nieces present, Isabel surprised her mother Gina with a stuffed elephant and a card. The card read: “Dear Mama, Please save this for me at your house. Mommy and Papi already have one for me at theirs. Thanks! See you June 2017!”

Berrios’ family was obviously overjoyed and relieved that she was pregnant and had proved the doctor wrong.

Not only is Berrios pregnant, but she has now been cancer-free for six years.
