Leading pro-life organizations are praising today’s decision by President elect Donald Trump to name pro-life Senator Jeff Sessions as his attorney general.

Sessions has a strong pro-life voting record as a member of the US Senate and has been a consistent opponent of abortion and the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Responding to the news, the head of the pro-life group Concerned Women for America said Senator sessions is a “champion for conservative principles.”

“Sen. Sessions has been a champion for the conservative principles that are the foundation of liberty and freedom.  Both his academic preparation and his stellar career as a U.S. Attorney and as a senator testify of an honest, competent man with a heart towards serving his fellow countrymen, even through much personal sacrifice,” Penny Nance, the head of CWA, told LifeNews.

“We commend President-elect Trump for his selection of such a strong candidate.  The choice speaks very highly of his commitment to conservative principles,” Nance continued.

“The hundreds of thousands of members of Concerned Women for America (CWA) around the country will urge senators to move quickly in the new year to confirm Sen. Sessions as the next attorney general, so that we may start rectifying many of the asphyxiating policies pursued by Attorney General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch,” she added. “The attacks on religious freedom and freedom of conscience in general, for example, must be at the top of the list.”

Meanwhile,  Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser told LifeNews she is also delighted by the selection.

“Senator Jeff Sessions is a longtime ally of the pro-life movement with a 100 percent pro-life record. We look forward to working with him and supporting him as he enforces current and future pro-life laws, including those President-elect Trump has pledged to advance. A pro-life Attorney General will be a welcome change. The Obama Administration has consistently turned a blind eye to the abortion industry, led by Planned Parenthood, and their horrific involvement in the trafficking of baby body organs,” she said.

The pro-life American Center for Law and Justice said today the selection of Senator Jeff Sessions as U.S. Attorney General reveals that President-elect Trump is dedicated to elevating “excellent leaders” to key positions within his Administration.

Calling Sessions “fantastic,” Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, said he is an “excellent leader “who will help set the tone for a Trump Administration that is serious about upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.”

“As Attorney General, Sen. Sessions will bring stability and credibility back to a troubled Justice Department under the Obama Administration. Sen. Sessions has the knowledge, leadership, and capability to restore the institutional credibility at the Justice Department,” Sekulow commented.
