Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards Thanks President Obama for 8 Years of Promoting Abortion

In the past eight years, President Barack Obama has done a lot to help out his friends in the abortion industry.

And on Monday, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards made it a priority to thank him. She posted this photo and message on Twitter:

Obama has been a close friend to Planned Parenthood, which aborts about 320,000 unborn babies every year and receives about half a billion of our tax dollars. His administration has defended Planned Parenthood’s work amid scandals about it selling aborted baby parts and blocked states’ efforts to defund it.

Obama once said, “God bless Planned Parenthood” at a speech for the abortion group in 2013. Then in 2014, he told abortion activists that they are “doing God’s work.”

During his first week in office, Obama made it clear that he would support and defend abortion when he made it a priority to overturn the Mexico City Policy. The policy required the more than 600 groups that receive State Department taxpayer funding to pledge not to promote or perform abortions with it. Abortion advocates objected to the measure for years during the George W. Bush administration because they want to use the funds to do abortions overseas or lobby pro-life nations to reverse their laws against unlimited abortions.

That was Obama’s first pro-abortion move as president. He went on to weaken conscience protections for health care workers and to appoint two pro-abortion U.S. Supreme Court justices. And his legacy legislation, Obamacare, has been damaging to religious individuals and unborn babies alike. Despite promises that the health care law would not fund abortions, a Government Accountability Office report found massive new public funding of abortion in the president’s healthcare law.

Under Obama, the Department of Health and Human Services also tried to force religious business owners and religious organizations to pay for abortion-causing drugs and contraception as part of their employee health care plans. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against HHS, sparing the religious individuals from being forced to pay for abortions.

In the past few years, Obama and his administration also have fought to protect the abortion giant Planned Parenthood amid numerous scandals. After an undercover investigation revealed that Planned Parenthood may be illegally selling aborted baby parts, many state and federal legislators moved to defund the abortion group. But the Obama administration blocked the efforts, vetoing a federal defunding bill and proposing a rule that would prohibit states from defunding the abortion chain, too.

Most recently, the Obama administration refused to act against California, which is forcing churches to pay for abortions through their employee health care plans in violation of the Weldon Amendment. In June, the HHS Office of Civil Rights stated it found no violations and closed its investigation of the matter.

Because of his record, many have describe Obama as the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history. However, if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency, she likely will surpass his record on abortion.
