When the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. says “Black Lives Matter,” she means all black lives.

Dr. Alveda King, a pro-life advocate and the niece of the famous civil rights leader, spoke on “The Jim Bakker Show” recently about how abortion has become the No. 1 killer of black lives in America. King brought up the social justice rallying cry “Black Lives Matter,” which often is connected to the shooting deaths of black men by police, and questioned why it does not also apply to unborn babies who are victims of the violence of abortion.

“If black lives matter, then why is it that black women are more than five times as likely as a white woman to have an abortion?” King asked co-host Lori Bakker, CNS News reports.

King continued: “I think the womb that brings forth the black life should matter. But they don’t want that out there. That’s the thing. And so because black lives absolutely matter, what about the babies in that womb? What about that mama?

“We have been tricked and fooled and bought into that lie that abortion is health care and it’s helping our communities,” King said. “Prior to ’73, certainly in the black community, there were less strokes, heart attacks, and all those things. After ’73, with all that the numbers went up in every community but certainly in the black community because abortion is connected to strokes, heart attacks, depression, drug addiction, and on and on.”

She pointed to research showing that Planned Parenthood targets black women by placing the majority of abortion facilities in minority neighborhoods. One study found that 79 percent of Planned Parenthood’s surgical abortion facilities are within walking distance of black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

As a result, abortions among black women are disproportionately high in the U.S. and have been for many years. New research from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute indicates that this has not changed in the past six years.

King is part of a growing voice against abortion in the black community. On Monday, Fox News interviewed another pro-life African American, Pastor Mark Burns, who emphasized points similar to King’s.

Burns told host Martha MacCallum: “We have abortion clinics that are positioned strategically within urban communities in this country where we make up as African Americans 14 percent of the population but over 40 percent of the abortions are done by black women. So you cannot declare ‘Black lives matter’ when black baby lives don’t matter. That’s over 14 to 15 million black babies that have been killed.”
