In response to a newly erected Planned Parenthood building in New Orleans, a pro-life women’s health clinic is being constructed. The health clinic, which will offer life-affirming option and assistance to women, will be located directly to the left of the Planned Parenthood building, the Clarion Herald reported.

New Orleans’ new Planned Parenthood facility currently does not perform abortions, however it was undoubtedly created with that intent. The abortion company’s CEO Cecile Richards defined the purpose of the new building when it opened earlier this year.

“We definitely built this place so we can perform abortions,” Richards told reporters.

Although Planned Parenthood has not yet applied for a license to perform abortions, its documents reveal the intent to do so. Louisiana Right to Life Executive Director Ben Clapper said Planned Parenthood’s business plan is to perform 2,844 abortions annually at the New Orleans site.

This would make it the first Planned Parenthood in Louisiana to perform abortions. While its other state facilities do not do abortions, they do recommend and refer women for them.

The pro-life community in New Orleans is rallying to offer women life-affirming care through the new pregnancy clinic. The Woman’s New Life Center is scheduled to open in less than a year, according to the local news report. The clinic will cost $1.8 million to build. Angie Thomas, CEO of the new pro-life facility, said $1.5 million dollars has already been raised through a capital campaign.

Thomas explained the reason for building the clinic: “This will serve as an alternative to Planned Parenthood, whether it’s for women’s health or for options with an unplanned pregnancy. We want women to know that they have other options that are life-affirming and better for them as women.”

The pro-lifers in New Orleans are working on other ways to defend life, too. The Respect Life Office for the Archdiocese of New Orleans is helping to organize a peaceful life chain protest at the Planned Parenthood, the report states.

The Respect Life Office’s coordinator Debbie Shinskie explained: “The idea of the life chain is the visibility of the message and to get a lot more people motivated. They’ll be carrying signs that say, ‘Abortion Hurts’ and ‘Adoption: A Loving Option.’ There will also be signs in Spanish.”

Several churches in New Orleans also sent representatives for a launch party for the annual 40 Days for Life, a pro-life campaign that will run from Sept. 28 to Nov. 6.

The pro-life community in New Orleans is providing women with a positive alternative to Planned Parenthood and its abortion agenda. Although the abortion business often brags about its other services, Planned Parenthood’s main source of revenue is abortion, and that is what they push. Women deserve to receive care without being pressured or encouraged to abort their unborn child.
