Pro-Abortion Leader Admits: Our Next Goal is Forcing Americans to Pay for Abortions

NARAL President Ilyse Hogue could not have been more clear about the pro-abortion movement’s future goals in her most recent interview with The Prospect.

Hogue, president of the radical pro-abortion group, said she wants to expand abortions for women all across the U.S. To achieve this, she hopes to force taxpayers to fund abortions, force pregnancy resource centers to advertise abortions and overturn common-sense restrictions on abortions.

“Importantly, we’re really moving to a position where we will not just fight anti-choice lies and deception, but where we can actively push for legislation that expands access to abortion,” Hogue said.

The implication is that the 1.1 million abortions in America each year are not enough. Women should have easy access to abortion at any time in their pregnancy, and they shouldn’t have to pay for it.

Taxpayer funding for abortion has become one of abortion advocates’ top priorities for expanding abortion. The pro-abortion lobby recently managed to convince the Democratic Party to support taxpayer funding of abortion in its proposed platform – despite strong public opposition.

Currently, the Hyde Amendment protects taxpayer dollars from funding most abortions. Upheld by the Supreme Court, the Hyde Amendment is now a target of abortion advocates who have moved from pro-choice to pro-abortion — forcing Americans not only to accept unlimited abortions before birth but also to pay for them.

Hogue said NARAL is working to “repeal the Hyde Amendment and ensure that abortion services could be covered under federal health insurance.” Her pro-abortion group also wants to see an end to the Helms Amendment, which prohibits tax dollars from paying for abortions in other countries.

NARAL also is campaigning for pro-abortion favorite Hillary Clinton, who has promised to try to force taxpayers to fund abortions, if elected president.

Hogue said she expects that Clinton will be even more pro-abortion than President Barack Obama, if she gets into the White House. Hogue told the media outlet:

Obama has been a great backstop against the endless assault by the anti-choice majority in Congress. He has vetoed every bill we’ve needed him to veto in no uncertain terms. But what we need now is a leader in the White House who centralizes these ideas about reproductive freedom as human rights, integral to the health and security of women and families in America. That’s not really been the center of his presidency, and I think it will be the center of Hillary Clinton’s.

Attacking pregnancy resource centers is another one of NARAL’s goals. Hogue pointed NARAL’s lobbying efforts for a California state law that forces pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise abortions. It’s something Hogue wants to force on pregnancy centers all across the U.S.

“We are pushing back on their crisis pregnancy center efforts,” Hogue said.

Hogue went on to talk about how NARAL also is targeting state laws that require informed consent for women going into abortion facilities and basic health and safety regulations for abortion clinics. She said they are helping pro-abortion leaders to file lawsuits against a number of states’ laws.

These radical new goals indicate how extreme abortion advocates are. No longer are they pushing for a woman’s “right to choose”; they are pushing for completely unrestricted abortions for any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. And they want taxpayers to pay for them.
