Boyfriend and Two Others Assault Pregnant Teen, Punch Her Stomach to Kill Her Unborn Baby

Quoting the Los Angeles County District Attorney ‘s office, KTLA, a local television station, has reported that 17-year-old Angel Contreras is being charged as an adult “with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count each of kidnapping and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.”

The Long Beach teenager is being charged for “allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman in an attempt to induce a miscarriage,” according to Sarah Ardalani, Public Information Officer for the DA’s office.

Neither the television station nor the DA’s office commented on the unborn baby’s status. Nor was there an update on the victim’s health.

Two teenage women were also charged with the same six counts, KTLA reported.

The two women allegedly accosted and punched Contreras’ girlfriend in the stomach on March 4, as she was walking to his home, the prosecutor said. [She was 13 weeks pregnant at the time.]

Then, less than three weeks later, the unidentified girlfriend was attacked as she exited a bus. Rodriguez and Patricio unsuccessfully tried to drag the victim into a car, but a witness prevented the girlfriend from being kidnapped, according to the prosecutor.

Contreras, who was on the bus with his girlfriend, had allegedly alerted the other two suspects to their location so that the women could attack the victim.

According to Ardalani, Rodriguez and Patricio allegedly assaulted the victim when she exited the bus. The girls

unsuccessfully tried to drag the victim into a car, the prosecutor added.

A passerby saw the attack and saved the victim from being kidnapped, the prosecutor said.

The trio will appear at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch on May 31.
