She Took the Abortion Pill and Thought She Killed Her Baby, But This Happened

When “Sandra” took the first of two abortion pills, the abortion clinic told her there was no going back.

The Georgia law school student was 23 when she and her boyfriend, a medical student, became pregnant, Live Action News reports. Georgia Right to Life’s Wayne Dubois said both students were pro-abortion, and they decided that it was not a good time for them to have a child.

Dubois wrote:

Sandra went to an Atlanta area Planned Parenthood facility, where she “cried a lot,” and was prescribed the necessary medications for a medical (non-surgical) abortion. She took the first pill, RU-486, at the clinic and was given prescriptions for the second pill, as well as pain and anxiety medications.

But while at the pharmacy, she noticed a woman holding a baby. Sandra immediately knew the abortion pill she had taken an hour earlier was a tragic mistake.

“I thought: how could I ever have another child later in life if I decide that the baby I was carrying did not deserve to live,” Sandra said.

Returning home, she began searching the web for stories of women who had medical abortions. In the process, she found the APR [Abortion Pill Reversal] website – abortionpillreversal.com.

APR referred her to a participating physician near her who immediately started the process of reversing the effects of RU-486.

“I realized that Planned Parenthood had lied when they said once you take the first pill of the two-step process there’s no going back,” Sandra explained. “You can, and our healthy and happy one-year old daughter is living proof.”

She also had harsh words for Planned Parenthood’s overall operation. “They are not there to help women; they’re in business to make money.”

“I think back on it now and I can’t believe that I made such a rash and impulsive decision. I realized that I was willing to kill my baby because I thought having her would be inconvenient,” Sandra explained.

She and her husband married during her pregnancy and the couple considers their daughter to be the “light of our lives.”

Sandra’s is just one of hundreds success stories resulting from the pioneer abortion pill reversal technology. In 2014, LifeNews reported how a California woman also took the first abortion pill then immediately regretted it. Outside of the abortion facility, she found the APR website on her smartphone and called the hotline. Doctors were able to reverse the abortion and save her son’s life.

Dr. Matthew Harrison performed the first-ever abortion pill reversal in 2007. At a press conference in 2015 sponsored by Priests for Life and the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians & Gynecologists, Dr. Harrison said the baby who was saved is now a healthy and happy 8-year-old girl. In 2015, Harrison and the team of OB-GYNs who are advancing the technology reported more than 213 babies have been saved.

As currently administered, a chemical abortion involves taking the drug mifepristone (RU-486), which makes the uterus inhospitable to new life and starves the baby. One or two days later, the second drug is taken to induce contractions and expel her child. The reversal process, which is gaining in usage as it becomes more widely known, can reverse the impact of the first drug and allow the baby to continue normal development.  Time is of the essence, though, in starting the reversal process. The sooner the reversal treatment begins the more likely it is that the baby’s life can be saved, according to the APR team.

Though the technology is new, early results show it appears to be safe for mother and child. The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which supports the new procedure, reported in a practice bulletin that the abortion pill reversal treatment has not led to birth defects.

The abortion pill reversal program has a network of almost 300 doctors world-wide to help women that call their 24/7 hotline, according to AbortionPillReversal.com.
