Every time McKenzie went to Planned Parenthood for an abortion, she was met with some excuse: The doctor was out of the office, or her appointment had to be rescheduled.

The Connecticut college student said she made nine appointments to have an abortion before she finally gave up trying. Her baby son is alive today because of it.

McKenzie recently shared her story on a new video for the ABC Women’s Center in Middletown, Connecticut.

When she first discovered she was pregnant, McKenzie and her boyfriend, Marcus, were in college. They felt afraid and unprepared to be parents. McKenzie went to Planned Parenthood to confirm that she was pregnant, and scheduled an appointment to have an abortion.

“I thought I didn’t have anybody in my corner,” McKenzie said.

“It just hit me,” Marcus added. “I was just thinking I wasn’t ready. I was just very scared.”

Nine rescheduled appointments later, she decided to go to the pro-life pregnancy center. At ABC Women’s Center, McKenzie agreed to have a free ultrasound and then decide whether to continue pursuing abortion. When she saw her unborn baby on the screen, her mind changed completely.

On Oct. 26, 2015, their son Marcus Arron Stovall Jr. was born. His parents are so grateful for the material and emotional support they received from the pregnancy center.

“He’s the best thing that ever happened to me,” McKenzie said. “Just to think that I was going to get an abortion nine times, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life.”

“Everything worked out for the good,” Marcus added.
