Hillary Clinton: Marco Rubio is “Pathetic” Attacking Me for Supporting Abortion Up to Birth

Hillary Clinton is upset that Marco Rubio continues to attack her pro-abortion position supporting unlimited abortions up to birth for any reason. During last week’s republican presidential debate, Rubio continued excoriating Clinton over her “extreme” abortion position.

“Here’s what I find outrageous. There has been five Democratic debates. The media has not asked them a single question on abortion and on abortion, the Democrats are extremists. Why doesn’t the media ask Hillary Clinton why she believes that all abortion should be legal, even on the due date of that unborn child,”Rubio said. “Why don’t they ask Hillary Clinton why she believe that partial- birth abortion, which is a gruesome procedure that has been outlawed in this country, she thinks that’s a fundamental right. They are the extremists.”

Clinton fired back on Sunday:

“I think it’s pretty pathetic,” Clinton said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “This is something that illustrates how Senator Rubio has just been going as far as he can to try to, I guess, buttress his credentials with certain parts of the Republican constituency. I’ve been on record for years about where I stand on making abortions safe and legal, the exceptions that are appropriate that should be looked into. And the very difficult choices that very few women have to confront that lead to excruciating kinds of decisions.”

She said Rubio was engaging in a “tried and true tactic by those on the right” to try to convince voters that he would overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision and defund Planned Parenthood.

She pushed back on the notion that she support unfettered abortions even when they are not medically necessary.

“Reasonable kinds of restrictions can be imposed as long as the life and health of the mother are taken into account and that’s what the law is today,” she said.

What Clinton leaves out in her comment about the health of the mother is that its a specious argument the Supreme Court used to justify any and all abortions for any reason up to birth. Abortions cause a plethora of physical and mental health issues for women.

Rubio also went after Clinton before the debate on her extreme abortion position.

“Hillary Clinton is an extremist on this issue,” the Florida Republican said Thursday in New Hampshire. “She believes there should be no such thing as an illegal abortion — even on the due date.”

Last week, Clinton revealed she has a litmus test for judges. High on the priority list for someone she would name to the Supreme Court? They must uphold Roe v. Wade and the 48 million abortions that have occurred under it.

Up to four of the nine seats on the high court could come open within the next president’s term, meaning that the next president’s appointees could sway the court’s decisions for decades. That’s a power that pro-abortion Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton would like to get her hands on.
