When 4-year-old Prestyn Barnette sat on Santa Claus’s lap, the South Carolina boy wasn’t thinking about toys or candy. He asked Santa to pray for a little baby who needed a miracle, a baby who Prestyn had never even met.

Santa Claus got out of his chair and kneeled down with Prestyn and prayed on Dec. 13 at the Dutch Square shopping mall in Columbia, South Carolina, according to Yahoo News.

Prestyn’s aunt snapped a photo of the touching moment, and the scene quickly went viral, inspiring thousands of people across the internet – especially the family of little Knox Stine.

Two-month-old Knox was found limp and unresponsive by his father, Carl, on Nov. 30, according to the report. Stine tried to perform CPR and then rushed the little boy to the hospital. There, doctors initially declared the Kingman, Arizona baby brain dead; but after a second examination, they discovered blood flow to his brain, the report states.

His mother, Mindi Stine, said Knox is scheduled to have a tracheostomy to assist his breathing on Friday.

“It’s been a roller coaster,” Stine said. “He was declared brain dead and the children even said ‘Goodbye,’ but after the second examination of his brain, out of nowhere there was blood flow to his lower brain. It was amazing. We considered it a miracle. We did not expect that at all.”

When the Stines saw Prestyn and Santa Claus praying for their baby boy in far away South Carolina, they were touched.

“I thought it was beautiful,” she said. “I thought the boy was precious and I think it’s so sweet. It spoke to my heart. Even though I am experiencing pain that is unbelievable, that brought joy to me.”

Prestyn’s family discovered Baby Knox’s story on Facebook earlier in December and began praying for him and his family, according to the report.

“We talk about it, and we pray for him and we’ve gotten Prestyn to pray for him in his nightly prayers as well,” his aunt, Lauren Sharpe, told ABC News.

When Prestyn and his little brother visited the mall on Dec. 13, his whole family got a surprise when Prestyn and Santa kneeled to pray for Knox.

“We got up there and Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas,” Sharpe said. “He asked for a Lionel train set and to pray for a miracle for Baby Knox.”

Sharpe said she took a photo and shared it on her Facebook page to let Knox and his family know that they are not alone.

And Because of her little nephew’s faith, more people have heard about Knox and can join him in prayer for another Christmas miracle.
