New figures released today about the Planned Parenthood abortion company show it continues to be the biggest abortion business in the nation. The abortion giant opened up a net total of 16 new abortion clinics in 2015, even as the number of total clinics Planned Parenthood runs is on the decline.
According to the new figures the pro-life group American Life League provided LifeNews.com today, the total number of Planned Parenthood centers went down from 668 to 645 but the total number of Planned Parenthood centers that do abortions went up from 337 to 353.
The change makes it clear that Planned Parenthood continues to shift away from women’s health care and family planning towards abortion. That change is occurring following a national mandate from Planned Parenthood’s headquarters in new York City to all of its affiliates that every affiliate must have a center that does abortions.

“The numbers show that Planned Parenthood still operates the largest abortion chain in the nation,” American Life League told LifeNews.
Meanwhile, the percentage of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics that use the dangerous RU 486 (mifepristone) abortion pill that has killed dozens of women worldwide and injured thousands in the United States alone is on the rise.
While the number of surgical abortion clinic Planned Parenthood runs is down from 173 to 166 but the number of Planned Parenthood clinics dispensing the dangerous abortion pill is up from 164 to 187. Those numbers come as national information indicates the abortion pill is now responsible for the deaths of 25% of the unborn babies who die in abortions annually int he United States.
“The growth of medication only abortion centers in the United States, driven almost exclusively by Planned Parenthood, represents the largest one year increase since 2010. More significantly, in 2015, for the first time in Planned Parenthood’s history, the number of medication only abortion centers is larger than its number of surgical abortion centers,” ALL’s Jim Sedlak told LifeNews.
In 2011, the Food and Drug Administration reported that 14 women in the U.S. have died from using the mifepristone abortion drug and 2,207 women have been injured by it.
The report stated: “Severe infections generally involve death or hospitalization for at least 2-3 days, intravenous antibiotics for at least 24 hours, total antibiotic usage for at least 3 days, and any other physical or clinical findings, laboratory data or surgery that suggest a severe infection.”
“It is clear that Planned Parenthood sees the implementation of facilities that only commit abortions using the abortion pill (medication abortions) as its wave of the future. These facilities allow Planned Parenthood to continue to end the lives of human beings in the womb through abortion—while sparing its staff from having to deal with the dead babies,” the group added.
“In a medication abortion, the mother takes a pill to kill the baby at a PP facility and is then sent home to take a second pill a couple of days later to expel the dead baby from her body. Thus, the woman is left to deal with any problems or trauma on her own. She is normally instructed to deal with major problems by going to an emergency room—not back to Planned Parenthood. It’s been reported that Planned Parenthood instructs the women to tell the emergency room staff that she is having a miscarriage,” ALL continued.
In the past, Planned Parenthood distributed the abortion-inducing drugs to women without requiring an in-person visit and significantly past the prescribed date from their last menstrual cycle. In fact, it wasn’t until four California women died within a week of using the abortion drug they received from Planned Parenthood that they changed its policy to conform to the FDA protocol. Initially, Planned Parenthood was telling women to use the abortion drug vaginally even though the FDA indicated oral use is safer for women.

The pro-life group concluded: “Critics of Planned Parenthood have maintained for years that the organization is more concerned with making a profit than women’s health. The significant growth of these abortion pill facilities is yet another demonstration of the truth of those concerns. Get the women in the door, sell them very expensive pills to kill their babies, and send them on their way to deal with any consequences on their own. Not the description of any real healthcare we’ve ever seen.”
