Congresswoman Defends Abortion: “We Don’t Do Children a Favor By Forcing Women To Give Birth”

On September 28th, Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wisconsin, 4th) elaborated on her support of abortion and Planned Parenthood at a press conference held by the Congressional Black Caucus. The Daily Caller reports that the Congresswoman indicated that some women are forced into carrying their unborn children to term because they can’t afford abortions.

She said, “It has all kinds of implications on a family — not just financial, but emotional, social and the ability of a family to provide for their children really relies on that family being able to decide when and how many children and if they will have any children at all.” She added, “I don’t think we do children a favor by forcing women to give birth.”

Additionally, Rep. Moore explained that without Planned Parenthood so many women would be without healthcare during their reproductive years. However, what she really meant to say was women would be without birth control and abortion if Congress de-funded the abortion company.

She said, “That is a lot of time to prevent pregnancies, and it’s hard for me to believe that any woman would want to be pregnant every year for 35 years. So women have been desperately in need for this healthcare remedy, which is why it has been such a strenuous effort to provide this life saving benefit to women.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Rep. Moore has said outlandish things about abortion. In 2011, she said that it was better for babies to die in abortions than for them to grow up “eating Ramen noodles” and “mayonnaise sandwiches.” Then, in 2013, she said that the Roe v. Wade abortion case “affirms motherhood.”

She said, “Parenting is difficult on your best day. And it doesn’t serve children, and it certainly doesn’t serve women to be forced into parenthood. And I think this is what the public has come to understand. That safe, legal abortions are very important for the health of children, women, the institution of motherhood, family, and ultimately to our society. The costs to our society are tremendous when children are unwanted or their parents are unprepared to take on this tremendous responsibility.”

As LifeNews previously reported, in July, Planned Parenthood made national headlines after videos were released showing their top executives discussing the systematic harvesting and trafficking of human body parts from aborted babies. In a few of the most recent videos, the abortion company was caught harvesting the brain of an aborted baby who was still alive, and the ninth video shows Planned Parenthood’s medical director discussing how they sell fully intact aborted babies, including a baby who “just fell out” of the womb.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3495, the Women’s Public Health and Safety Act, which was authored by pro-life Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI). The legislation will make it easier for states to de-fund Planned Parenthood by amending the Medicaid law to let states exclude abortion providers from government-funded program.
