In Iowa, a new public opinion poll shows that the majority of the state’s residents support de-funding Planned Parenthood and sending government funding to legitimate health care clinics instead. The survey was commissioned by the pro-life legal group Alliance Defending Freedom and found that sixty-nine percent of Iowans agree that taxpayers should not subsidize groups like Planned Parenthood.

Additionally, the poll found that sixty-four percent of Iowans believe Congress should de-fund the abortion company. In 2014, the group received more than $528 million dollars in taxpayer funding— all while killing 327,653 babies in abortion. Instead of receiving public funding, Iowans believe Planned Parenthood should use the $700 million they receive in annual revenue to operate their business.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

ADF Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot explained, “Americans should not be forced to fund a billion-dollar corporation that was caught on camera negotiating the sale of baby body parts. Recently released undercover videos exposed the horrific truth about Planned Parenthood that every American should know. Our tax dollars should fund local public health clinics, not provide $500 million in corporate welfare for Planned Parenthood’s abortion and baby parts business.”

He added, “Government officials have a duty to investigate the illegal and unethical practices of Planned Parenthood. The evidence in these videos is clear. We urge the government to hear the American people and put an end to public subsidies that fund this organization and its barbaric practices.”

In August, a poll conducted by the Public Policy Polling (PPP) Company showed that Hillary Clinton could lose the swing state of Iowa to a number of pro-life Republican presidential candidates. The Hill reported that in a race between the former Secretary of State and Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and retired surgeon Dr. Ben Carson, Clinton could lose. PPP is a liberal leaning polling company, and the results come from a survey of 1,500 registered voters in Iowa from Aug. 7 to 9.

In past elections, Iowa has been a battleground for Democrats and abortion groups like NARAL, Emily’s List and Planned Parenthood have dumped tons of money into their political campaigns. For example, in 2012, Planned Parenthood spent $1.4 million on pro-abortion ads in Iowa. In 2008 and 2012, Obama carried the state by 54% and 51.99% respectively. However, in 2012, Republicans won the governorship, and in 2015, they won the Senate race.

As LifeNews previously reported, in July, videos were released by The Center for Medical Progress exposing Planned Parenthood’s organ harvesting business. The footage shows the abortion company’s top executives haggling over the price of aborted babies’ body parts, admitting to altering abortion procedures to procure salable organs for harvesting and casually discussing ways their doctors can “crush” unborn babies to obtain fully intact parts.

Unbelievably, in the seventh video, the abortion company is caught harvesting the brain of an aborted baby who was still alive, and the tenth video shows Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of specific body parts, including the heart, eyes and “gonads” of unborn babies.
