Pro-Lifers Try to Schedule Mammograms at Planned Parenthood, But The Abortion Biz Doesn’t Do Them

Yesterday, a pro-life group had a “Schedule Your Mammogram Day” to have women call Planned Parenthood and schedule their mammograms, but since the abortion company does not do mammograms, this task was impossible.

Former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson said that although pro-abortion advocates are claiming that if Congress de-funds Planned Parenthood women would lose access to life-saving care, this is definitely not the case since their facilities are only level-one breast cancer service centers. This means that all they can provide is referrals for mammograms and conduct manual breast exams.

Johnson explained, “Having worked at a Planned Parenthood, I knew that there are no Planned Parenthoods licensed to have mammogram machines. They can provide a referral for a mammogram, but any health provider can refer a woman for a mammogram.”

She added, “We know they won’t do mammograms, but they won’t come out and make a statement. They perpetuate this lie by their silence.” Johnson’s organization, And Then There Were None, sponsored “Schedule Your Mammogram Day” to bring awareness to the fact that Planned Parenthood does not provide them.

Here’s more:

FactCheck.org has verified that “Planned Parenthood health centers do not offer mammography,” but supporters of the organization often claim that women will lose access to mammograms if Planned Parenthood is defunded.

Johnson said that when Miss Tennessee recently declared that defunding Planned Parenthood would cause women to lose access to mammograms, she decided to organize the campaign.

“We know the truth already, but we’re hoping that by having people call, that it will force them to finally make a statement,” Johnson said. Johnson added that she encourages those who participate in the campaign to tell the Planned Parenthood employee to visit AbortionWorker.com, where they will find people who can help them leave the abortion industry.

In 2012, Planed Parenthood issued a press release that read, “Planned Parenthood helps women nationwide get access to mammograms, as part of the range of health care Planned Parenthood health centers provide to nearly three million people a year.”

Obama echoed their rhetoric during his second presidential campaign. He said, “There are millions of women all across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings.” Then, last month, the Secretary of Obama’s Health and Human Services department defended federal funding for the abortion giant by mentioning mammograms. Sylvia Mathews Burwell said, “What I think is important is that our HHS funding is focused on issues of preventative care for women, things like mammograms.”

However, the truth is that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lists 8,735 licensed mammography facilities in America on their website but Planned Parenthood operates none of them. You can view their list by clicking here or visit www.GetYourCare.org to find a legitimate health care center that does offer mammograms.
