In the wake of nine videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s lucrative organ harvesting business, many Americans are probably wondering how anyone could tear a baby apart and then sell their body parts for profit. But if you found out that Planned Parenthood’s top employees make over a quarter of a million dollars each year would that make it more understandable?
The Daily Signal reports that the average salary for a top Planned Parenthood employee is $345,338, and the company’s CEO, Cecile Richards, rakes in $590,000, which is a salary increase of 40 percent since 2011. Hopefully, most Americans would say there is no amount of money that could ever persuade them to kill and sell babies; but for Planned Parenthood employees, money is a huge motivator.
As LifeNews previously reported, in 2012, The Daily Caller questioned Richards about her massive salary and she said the federal government doesn’t contribute to it at all. However, pro-life advocate Jill Stenak asked a very important question regarding her response: “…If [n]early half of Planned Parenthood patients rely on Medicaid coverage, as Planned Parenthood states, does Richards really think she’d be making the same coin were government funding – to the tune of $540.6 million in FY 2012-13 – removed from Planned Parenthood’s total revenue of $1.210 billion?”

Unfortunately, what makes this information even more disturbing is the fact that Planned Parenthood constantly says their “nonprofit” organization helps low- income women. That claim couldn’t be further from the truth because the abortion giant strategically places their facilities in poor, minority neighborhoods so they can increase revenue by performing abortions.
The president of American Life League, Judie Brown, argues that the large salaries given to Planned Parenthood officials bring into question the organization’s care for the poor. She said, “Planned Parenthood’s claims of serving the poor are ludicrous given the massive salaries it pays its CEOs. In fact, we see by looking at these salaries that PP is more interested in milking the government to line its own pockets off the backs of both the poor and the innocent humans it kills every day.”
The vice president of the American Life League, Jim Sedlak, added, “It is really disingenuous for Planned Parenthood to claim to be an organization for the poor when its average CEO salary ranks in the top six percent of all Americans. In addition, the average salary of its top dozen headquarters staff—who do not provide any medical services—ranks in the top two percent. It’s time the American taxpayer stop providing 40 percent of Planned Parenthood’s income.”
Although it is probably true that some within Planned Parenthood are simply blinded to the organization’s gruesome and inhumane practices, it is unlikely that their top employees are ignorant to all the atrocities that take place behind closed doors. This is truer now since the organization has been at the forefront of debates across the country about abortion, fetal-pain and defunding abortion companies.
