Shocking Figures Show 1 in 3 Pregnancies in London End in Abortion

In London, shocking new figures show that 30%, or 1 in 3 babies, are aborted making the city the abortion capitol of England. Breitbart News reports that 81% of these abortions take place on single women while only 16% are on married women.

The statistics also reveal that conceptions outside or marriage are up from 51% in 1998 to 57% in 2013. Unfortunately, in 2013, aborted babies made up for more than a quarter of all deaths in Wales and England, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The Executive Officer of Right to Life, Peter D. Williams, told Breitbart London that this shows that legalized abortion has brought doom on their culture. He said, “That unborn children comprise – when included – over a quarter of all mortalities in the UK illustrates the stark disregard, disrespect, and lack of empathy for human life, and especially the most vulnerable human beings, that legalised abortion has introduced so insidiously into our culture.”

Here’s more on the new statistics out of London:

Lambeth, Southwark and Islington have the highest abortion rates in the country, with the capital’s boroughs making up the entire top 10, in figures that show how women across England and Wales now see having children as a low priority.

Barking and Dagenham, which has the UK’s seventh highest abortion rate, also has the highest conception rate in the UK, with 111.8 conceptions per thousand women age 15-44 in 2013. Conversely, Islington, which has the third highest abortion rate in the UK, has the ninth lowest conception rate, with just 65.5 conceptions per thousand women.

Outside of London, Liverpool has the highest abortion rate with 28.1 per cent of pregnancies in the city being terminating in 2013. Knowsley, Manchester, Halton and Wirral, all of which are also in the North West of England, feature highly too.

The data, collected on behalf of UK cosmetics store Superdrug, shows how younger women increasingly do not want to have children, with many putting the decision off until their later 30s over even 40s.

As Lifenews previously reported, the Office of National Statistics says that the abortion rate among women over 35 is at an all time high in the U.K. The Daily News reports: “In 2013, the abortion rate among over-35s reached its highest level, while the rate among teenagers reached a record low. Mothers, not under-18s, now make up the biggest proportion of those having abortions – 53 percent already have children, up 13 percent over the past decade.”

Abigail Fitzgibbon, the public policy manager for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, said that the spike in the abortion rate among older women could be for a number of reasons. Contributing factors could be: fewer men are having vasectomies, older woman are less likely to use contraceptives, societal pressure to be financially secure before having children, and older women often assume that its more difficult to become pregnant than when they were younger.

However, some older women are forced by their partners or husbands to have an abortion because of money, or because they believe they are too old to raise another child.
