In 2013, a family dog in Thailand rescued an abandoned newborn baby girl. The pet named Pui found a plastic bag with a newborn baby girl inside and carried the infant back home. Authorities believe that the baby was abandoned at a roadside dump in Tha Rua district of Ayutthaya province.

After the incident, the Bangkok Post reported that Pui barked loudly to get its owners’ attention. Then a 12-year-old girl named Sudarat Thongmak came out of the home and was shocked to find the baby with her umbilical cord still attached. Her parents rushed the baby to the hospital and upon arrival her condition was considered critical. The baby girl was born one and half months premature.

As LifeNews previously reported, Sudarat’s mother, Pummarat, said she was interested in adopting the baby. The Red Cross awarded Pui with a special certificate and a medal. He also earned his family money to pay for food for him and other dogs the family owns.
