On March 3rd, nearly 2,000 pro-lifers showed up at the El Centro City Council meeting in California to air their concerns over an agreement between Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest and El Centro Regional Medical Center that would allow abortions at their new facility.

Here’s more:

Those who addressed the council object to abortion on moral grounds. They also complained about what they said was a lack of transparency around the process to approve a state-mandated transfer agreement necessary to perform abortions at the clinic and called on the City Council to step in and wrest the transfer agreement decision from the hospital board.

At the beginning of the public comment portion of the meeting, City Attorney Kris Becker addressed the crowd. She said that in 1986 the council gave up its governance of the city-owned hospital to an appointed board of trustees, adding that city ordinances do not allow for the annulment of actions by hospital staff.

Becker then announced that the City Council, emerging from closed session several minutes before the meeting started, voted to hire independent legal counsel to review its options.

The citizens of El Centro City have good reason to be concerned about Planned Parenthood’s abortion business because in 2013, they performed 327,694 abortions, maintaining their position as the largest abortion business in America. They also raked in $305.3 million and continued to receive over a half-billion dollars in taxpayer dollars.

Their breast cancer screening services dropped by 17% and their prenatal services by 4%; and for every adoption referral, the abortion giant performed 174 abortions. Overall, Planned Parenthood reported more than $127 million in excess revenue, and more than $1.4 billion in net assets.

Additionally, in one California school Planned Parenthood provides free birth control for teens without parents’ knowledge, and at other schools they provide the morning after pill and counseling for abortion. Unfortunately, the abortion giant believes they can teach children better than their parents can and have published multiple “resources” for children and teenagers concerning sexual activity. These materials claim to provide “age appropriate” sex education to children starting at age four.

Planned Parenthood is also known for covering up statutory rape.
