In June,  a Michigan high school chemistry teacher, who impregnated a student and then purchased abortion pills for so she could abort the child, lost his appeal to overturn his sexual conduct conviction.

Jon Eric Jungkind was arrested in the fall of 2011, after the 17-year-old Cedar Springs victim told police she had sexual intercourse with the high school teacher on two separate occasions during the summer.

johnjungkindAccording to court documents, over the course of the summer of 2011, Jungkind and the teen became increasingly close, even spending time alone at Jungkind ’s home where he allowed her to consume alcohol, went to movies, restaurants and other events, and communicated extensively over the telephone, email and via private messaging on Facebook.

The girl told police that she was at Junghkind’s home in early August. They were in his computer room, looking at her senior photos that he took, when he embraced her. They soon went into his bedroom, she told police.

A few days later, they had sex after drinking around a small bonfire. She could not recall precisely when that happened, according to the report.

Shortly after their sexual encounter, the teen became concerned that she might be pregnant. When she told Jungkind, he purchased a pregnancy test which confirmed that she was, in fact, pregnant. The student testified that she then asked Jungkind to help her obtain an abortion and he purchased, from an out-of-country market, “Misoprostol,” a medication used to terminate pregnancy. She says she later took the abortion pills at her home where she aborted the baby.

According to documents, the teen revealed the situation to a friend, who later notified the school principal. Police were then called in to investigate.

A Michigan jury convicted Jungkind of one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced in December 2012 to 40 months to 15 years in prison.

A report, recently published by the pro-life group, Life Dynamics, details how pedophiles use abortion to conceal their crimes. Although this case may not fit the exact perimeters under which the group published their report, it does show that once again, abortion is the go-to solution for men who prey on minor girls, impregnate them, and then look for ways to conceal their crime.
