President Barack Obama today bestowed presidential medals to a number of recipients, but one of the people given the prestigious honor was pro-abortion actress Meryl Streep.

“Meryl is truly one of America’s leading ladies,” Obama said as he placed the medal around Streep’s neck. “Everybody knows I love her. Her husband knows I love her. Michelle knows I love her.”

merylstreepStreep is a popular actress who has played some great acting roles over the years, but she is also well-known as an abortion activists. For example, in 2012, Streep was part of a group of Hollywood elites behind an effort sponsored by the pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights supporting an online campaign for a Bill of Reproductive Rights. The campaign complained about Republicans and pro-lifers who oppose the Obama HHS abortion mandate that forces religious groups to pay for abortion-causing drugs.

Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Amy Poehler and other top actors and actresses were behind the push.

“Every day, the opponents of our fundamental reproductive rights are passing laws designed to take those rights away,” Streep said in a video for the campaign. “They’re shutting down doctors and clinics across the nation. They’re making it nearly impossible for millions of women to get the essential healthcare they need.”

In the video, Meryl Streep made the usual pitch about the essential “women’s health care,” that is abortion, and then strangely added “And have you even heard the things they’re saying about us? It would make Sarah Silverman blush.” Streep has no example to justify what pro-life people were supposedly saying.

Obama is no stranger to giving the President’s Medal of Freedom to abortion activists.

Longtime pro-abortion activist Gloria Steinem received the highest honor the Untied States can bestow upon a citizen who is not a member of the U.S. military and Obama awarded a Presidential medal of Freedom to pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
