Parents T.K. and Deidrea Lauxs are two courageous people who understand the value of human life — however brief it may be. Although doctors often advise parents of very disabled babies to have an abortion — they chose life.

thomaslauxsPreviously, the couple allowed The Dallas Morning News to film their journey with their son Thomas who was born with Trisomy 13 and died five days later at home.

At the end of this moving video, Deidrea explains why they did not abort Thomas. “We didn’t not terminate because we were hanging onto some sort of hope that there was a medical mistake or that there was going to be some sort of medical miracle. We didn’t terminate because he’s our son.”

LiveActionNews has more on the video:

Parents, T.K. and Deidrea Lauxs, knew something was wrong when their preborn son, Thomas, was not developing correctly inside the womb.

When they discovered that Thomas suffered from Trisomy 13 Syndrome, a chromosomal disorder that causes severe developmental delays ranging from profound retardation, malformation of the face and head, and incomplete formation of the brain, kidneys, or heart, they knew Thomas would likely live outside of the womb for a short time. Rather than choosing abortion,  T.K. and Deidrea chose to give Thomas a chance at life.
