Wisconsin Abortions Drop 7% – 465 Babies Saved From Abortions

“Today is a fantastic news day for Wisconsin women and children,” claimed Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life.  

“Our steep abortion decline continues with the release of 2013 abortion numbers which reveal there were 465 fewer abortions in 2013 than in 2012. This represents a 6.7% decrease in one year.”

wisclogo8The newly-released Department of Health Services Reported Induced Abortions in Wisconsin report shows there were 6,927 abortions performed in 2012 and 6,462 in 2013.

Some significant statistics from the report are:

  • 89 abortions were performed after the fifth month of pregnancy
  • The number of abortions performed on unmarried women climbed to 88.7%
  • 24% of abortions were obtained by African-American women
  • 9% of abortions were obtained by Hispanic women
  • 18% of abortions were chemical
