Despite the fact that hundreds of calls were made yesterday to the Speaker asking him not to post the bill, it has been added to the Board List for tomorrow’ Assembly vote.

Please call your 2 Assembly members to Vote No on A2270, the NJ Assisted Suicide Bill!   Please also plan to come down to the State House tomorrow to let our legislators know when are watching.  We will meet in the State House Cafeteria at 10:30 a.m.

Background:
Last Monday, June 16, and again, yesterday, the Assembly sponsor added new amendments to A2270 in a procedural move during an Assembly Voting session, which was several days after the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee voted the bill out of committee.
We believe these amendments were added to try to relieve the concerns expressed by many legislators regarding language in bill A2270 so that the proponents can try to get the bill passed in the Assembly by the end of June. We must act now to let our two Assembly members know that it must be opposed.
Please Note:  Go to the Section on this Alert that says “Take Action. Once you do that,  a page will appear which will ask for your zip code.  After providing your zip code, a screen will come up with talking points. You will see Speaker Prieto’s phone # on the top of the page.
If you are unable to leave a message for Speaker Prieto at this number, please call the Trenton Democratic Assembly Majority office at 609 847-3500 and ask to leave a message for the Speaker there.
After calling Assembly Speaker Prieto, scroll down the page to provide your name and feedback information on the call, then click the “submit” tab.  This will bring you to the name and phone # of your 1st Assembly Member which will then appear on the talking points page. You will  need to do this once more to get the name and phone # of the 2nd Assembly Member.  Thank you for acting on this important matter!
