This building used to belong to the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Lubbock, Texas. Now it is being turned into a children’s learning center.

As LifeNews reported in April, that abortion facility closed thanks to pro-life legislation that banned abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy and required abortion practitioners to have admitting privileges at local hospitals.

The facility was taken over by Generation Covenant, a program by Adoption Covenant, who is turning the facility into a learning center for children with disabilities. Generation Covenant created The Institute for Creative Learners to manage this beautiful program. The Institute will provide after-school students with learning differences.

Marinda Condra, CEO of Generation Covenant, told Fox34, “The fact that they learn differently, the major disability associated with that is that they’re not in the majority. But these children are very smart. They’re bright, they’re imaginative, they have a higher propensity towards creative than the general public. All we have to do is help them tap into that potential, and help them with academic success while we do so.”

In comments to LifeNews, she added: “We have faced struggles that we could not have imagined when we first agreed to take over the Planned Parenthood clinics. It has been an uphill road and we know that our challenges are far from over. However, Generation Covenant will continue utilize every opportunity God provides us to make the world a better place and count ourselves blessed to be able to do so. Our motto: Do what you can, where you are, with what you have — and the world will get better!”

As part of the takeover, all Planned Parenthood board members were forced to resign, and Generation Covenant went to work renovating the building. Their groundbreaking ceremony took place yesterday.
