Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Closes Centers in Oregon and Washington

Today, thrilling news came from America’s supposedly most pro-abortion state (the only one without a single restriction on abortion): Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is closing two clinics in Oregon and one in southernmost Washington!

closdsignbThe clinics being closed are those in Gresham and Clackamas, Oregon and the Salmon Creek, Washington clinic. CEO Stacy M. Cross, who issued the statement, said the decision “was difficult but necessary in order to maintain a fiscally solvent operation that continues to keep our doors open to patients in our region for the long-term.”

Just two months ago, they closed their McMinnville clinic. Now not only are they closing more clinics, they are also laying off staff at other “health” centers and within the organization itself.

The Gresham and McMinnville centers did abortions, while the other two offices were abortion referral centers.

This news is not surprising: Oregon’s abortion ratio is the lowest it has been in history (ratio means the percentage of pregnant women who choose abortion versus life for their baby). For a business that is the nation’s largest provider of abortion, bringing in over $300 million in clinic revenue in 2012 alone, it is expected that, with less demand for their services, cutbacks must be made.

Abortion rights advocates might suggest these closures leave women in the lurch but both Gresham and Clackamas have pregnancy resource centers (both within walking distance of the former PP clinics). Salmon Creek does not have a PRC of its own yet but there is one in Battle Ground, Washington, a neighboring city, a 15 minute drive from Salmon Creek.

Upon hearing the news Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Gayle Atteberry said, “I am thrilled with this news. We have been working long and hard to spread the truth that abortion kills an unborn child and leaves a mother with lifelong regret. Pregnancy support centers throughout Oregon and Washington are available to give life-affirming support for women with unexpected pregnancies.”

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette still has six locations open. We won’t stop till they all close their doors. For good.
