The Plan B drug is now available for sale at Amazon.com. The drug, which may cause a very early-term abortion in some cases if conception has already occurred, is listed as in-stock and is being sold for a price of $16.90 plus about five dollars in shipping costs.

planb3The information provided by Pharmacy Consultants, which is selling the drug, says:

  • The first emergency contraceptive FDA-approved to be available in the aisle
  • For use within 72 hours (3 days) after sex, but the sooner take it, the better it works
  • Contains levonorgestrel, the same ingredient used in many birth control pills and it works in a similar way
  • Just one pill, so get what need right away

The Plan B drug formerly required a prescription and making it available over the counter has upset pro-life advocates, in part because they’re worried sexual predators may purchase the drug and force their victims to take it.

Last year, an undercover video showed an older man buying Plan B and asking the pharmacists and store clerks how to insert the drug into his girlfriend’s drink because she doesn’t want to take it.

In other scenes, his girlfriend, a minor, is with him and saying she doesn’t want to take it but he buys and says he will make her take it – all in front of the store employees. “While supporters of Plan B are adamant about the drug’s access to anyone, statutory rapists can use this powerful drug to easily get away with their crimes by casually purchasing it for their underage victims with no one none the wiser, including the parents,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, which released the video.

Hawkins told LifeNews, “This is illegal and could be prevented with common sense restrictions on the sale of the Plan B.”

Students for Life of America went undercover in 30 Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and CVS stores across the nation in August and September of 2013 and filmed these interactions. While the situation may seem extreme, real instances of this and worse have taken place with a similar drug, Ella, which can be taken up to a week after unprotected sex and is also an abortificiant, the group said.

“Patterns of abuse could easily emerge with the sale of Plan B being so accessible to men who want to cover up their crimes with underage girls,” continued Hawkins. “This is about protecting women and young girls, something the pro-abortion lobby has no intention of doing since they are so set on anyone getting access to a drug that puts young women in harm’s way.”

“While the sale of Plan B is legal, it is in no way safe or controlled as it takes the parent and doctor out of the young girl’s healthcare choices,” said Hawkins. “SFLA’s legislation will aim to control the sale of Plan B as well as provide conscience protections to those employees who have moral objections.”
