Planned Parenthood almost never uses the a-word. No not that profane a-word, the word “abortion.”
The nation’s biggest abortion business almost always couches the term abortion in flowery language of women’s health or women’s rights or reproductive health — all things that sound great and no one opposes, except they are merely euphemisms for Planed Parenthood actually does, killing little baby boys and girls in abortions.
But when a new report came out on Monday showing abortion rates at their lowest levels since Roe — meaning more and more women are choosing life instead of abortion — Planned Parenthood finally admitted it was “proud” to do abortions.
“Planned Parenthood is proud to provide abortion services for women who make the deeply personal decision to end a pregnancy, we are proud to fight for a woman’s right to make that decision without interference from politicians, and we are proud to provide birth control that prevents that need for abortion in the first place,” Planned Parenthood president and CEO Cecile Richards said.
One wonders why Planned Parenthood hasn’t admitted that before, since abortions constitute the bread and butter of the pro-abortion “nonprofit.”
As Matt Yonke of Pro-Life Action League wrote at LifeNews:
But even as the abortion rate continues its slow decline, Planned Parenthood—the nation’s largest abortion chain—continues to perform more and more abortions and dominate the abortion market.
According to their annual report [PDF], Planned Parenthood performed 333,964 abortions in 2012—almost 80,000 more than they performed in 2005. That’s about one every 95 seconds, every day of the year.
As Planned Parenthood continues to corner the market on abortions, pursuing their stated goal of becoming the “Lenscrafters of family planning“, they are simultaneously trying to make it look like abortion is just a tiny portion of what they do.
But the fact is that Planned Parenthood performs about 40% of all abortions in the US and abortion income makes up over 50% of their clinic income every year.
Their oft quoted line that abortion makes up only 3% of their services is a masterpiece of spin and rigging the numbers. When a woman gets an abortion at Planned Parenthood, she receives about 9 other services that are all counted separately, which Planned Parenthood uses to make it look like the abortion was only 1/10th of the services she received when, clearly, the main service she went to Planned Parenthood for was an abortion. Additionally, 92% of pregnant women who walk into a Planned Parenthood clinic receive an abortion.

Planned Parenthood is Abortion, Inc. No two ways about it. Yet recent polling data showed that 55% of Americans don’t even know that Planned Parenthood performs abortions, including many pro-life people! It’s on the strength of this deception that Planned Parenthood is able to take in the over half-billion dollars they receive every year from government funding—another number that’s increasing every year.
