Man Who Threatened to “Cut the Baby Out” of His Girlfriend’s Stomach Faces Charges

When women get pregnant and men want out of their responsibility, they are often pressured or coerced into having an abortion. When they have no interest in an abortion and show a preference for keeping their baby, sometimes the fathers take making her have an abortion into their own hands.

Witness James Lynch, 29, who was arrested last month after allegedly threatening to “cut the baby out” of his ex-girlfriend’s stomach during an argument. He not only faces assault charges but is charged with potential assault on an unborn child as well.

Lynch has been in custody in lieu of posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail since his arrest.

“He threatened to cut the baby out of her stomach,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “He dragged her down a flight of stairs and around the apartment. She was bruised on her arms and right side.”

Lynch also took the victim’s car.

The victim received treatment at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Lynch was ordered held for trial on charges of assault on an unborn child, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, burglary, robbery of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and harassment by Magisterial District Judge Kelly Micozzie-Aguirre.

He will be arraigned Oct. 2 in the Media Courthouse.
