Kentucky: Pro-Abortion Grimes Running Against Pro-Life Mitch McConnell

Pro-abortion Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is hoping to defeat pro-life Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in the 2014 U.S. Senate election in Kentucky.

Compare the candidates on life issues:

  • Since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973, more than 55 million defenseless babies have been aborted – more than 3,300 each day, 365 days a year.

Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes supports the current policy of abortion on demand, which allows abortion for any reason.  In an August 3, 2013, interview, Grimes stated, “I am supportive of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.”

EMILY’s List has praised pro-abortion candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes. EMILY’s List is a radical pro-abortion group which supports Democratic women candidates who support abortion on demand, partial-birth abortion and using your tax dollars to pay for abortion.

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell supports legal protection for unborn children and opposes abortion on demand. McConnell has a solid pro-life voting record, incuding votes to ban partial-birth abortions, votes against using your tax dollars to pay for abortions, and votes to require parental notice before an abortion is performed on a minor daughter.

  • Obamacare will provide government funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand, and will result in the rationing of lifesaving medical treatments.

In speaking about Obamacare, Obama’s health care law, Alison Lundergan Grimes said Congress should not “throw the baby out with the bathwater.”

Senator Mitch McConnell opposes Obamacare and voted to repeal it.

EMILY’s List is out of touch with the American public on abortion.

In a March 3, 2013, poll conducted by The Polling CompanyTM, inc., only 12 percent agreed with the statement, “Abortion should be legal for any reason at any time during a woman’s pregnancy,” and yet this is the extreme position held by EMILY’s List. National Right to Life’s Advantage publication (www.nrlpac.org/pdf/Prolife_Increment.pdf) clearly demonstrates that only a very small percentage of the public supports the EMILY’s List position of unrestricted abortion.

In fact the American public is far closer to the pro-life position than to EMILY’s List’s. A poll released by Gallup on May 10, 2013, revealed that a total of 58% believes that abortion should be illegal in all circumstances (20%) or “legal in only a few circumstances” (38%).

Because of that, it is not surprising that EMILY’s List often leaves out the word “abortion” when it praises its candidates and disguises its agenda in many other ways.  For instance, in a release describing Lundergan Grimes, they say she’s “an incredible leader” who “has fought for women and families”.

Yet the violence of abortion, as displayed so graphically in the Kermit Gosnell murder trial, is supported, without limitations or restraints, by EMILY’s List and the candidates they support.

The American people are pro-life.  Most people are appalled when they hear testimony about the atrocities in the Gosnell murder trial.  Most are disgusted when they realize Gosnell’s utmost disregard for the woman, hear about the filthy conditions at his clinic, and learn about his brutal method of “snipping” the spinal cords of sometimes six pound babies who were born alive during an abortion.

On November 4, 2014, Kentucky voters will decide which candidate represents their values.
