A mother of a teenage boy says her son was assaulted by a pro-abortion activist outside an abortion clinic in Huntsville, Alabama during a December 2012 protest.

Kristy Vogel of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee filed a lawsuit, which became public on Friday, saying Kristopher Zentner “physically assaulted and battered” her 16-year-old son on the sidewalk in front of Alabama Women’s Center for Reproductive Alternatives.

A local newspaper says the lawsuit, filed Thursday in Madison County Circuit Court, also says Zentner “intentionally exposed” Vogel’s son to a “potentially hazardous burning material.” The material is not named in the lawsuit, but abortion advocates burn dried sage outside the abortion clinic on Madison Street.

From the story:

Zentner declined to comment on the lawsuit Friday.

Zentner is a volunteer patient escort for Alabama Women’s Center; Vogel’s teenage son is part of a group of pro-life activists that conducts regular prayer vigils near the clinic.

The lawsuit seeks damages “in excess of $10,000.” Birmingham attorney Trenton Garmon filed the suit on behalf of the Vogels. Garmon is also defending pro-life activist Joyce Fecteau against charges brought by two pro-choice supporters who claim Fecteau sprayed them in the face with an unknown liquid.

Women’s rights supporters across Alabama have already begun sending money to help Zentner hire an attorney, she said.

The boy who was assaulted was age 15 at the time of the incident and is 16 now.
