Activist Chen Guangcheng to Meet President George W. Bush

ChinaAid and The George W. Bush Institute are co-hosting a live online chat with blind Chinese lawyer and human rights activist Chen Guangcheng about freedom and the rule of law on Wednesday April 3.

Chen’s one-hour live discussion will be with Ambassador Jim Glassman, founding executive director of The George W. Bush Institute in Dallas.

Also on Wednesday, President Bush will meet with Chen, his wife Yuan Weijing, and their son and daughter, as well as ChinaAid founder and president Bob Fu, at his private club at the Bush Institute.

Chen and his family are to be honored tonight, Tuesday April 2, at ChinaAid’s annual banquet in Midland, Texas, where he will be awarded the 2013 “Defender of Freedom Award.” The 2012 award went to three mainland Chinese lawyers.
