In a horrific case of attempted forced abortion, an Indian woman was kidnapped and gang raped on her husband’s orders after she refused to get an abortion.
The five-month pregnant victim is 22 years old and lives in Hisar, India. Her husband had pressured her to have an abortion and, when she refused, he decided to punish her. The woman was kidnapped on March 4, 2013, held for five days, and repeatedly raped. According to the victim:
Three men were involved in the rape. When she finally was released, she contacted police.
After a medical examination, the police arrested Sunil and several other men. On the day that she was kidnapped, Sunil contacted police and filed a missing person report according to S-I Rajender Prasad of Agroha police station.
Violence against pregnant women who refuse abortion is prevalent everywhere, not just in India. There’ve been many cases in the United States. In one case, 38-year-old Kevin Robinson stabbed 21-year-old Shawn Kristopher, his 15-year-old pregnant girlfriend, to death after he insisted she abort in an effort to hide their relationship. 21-year-old Shawn Kristopher Holliman was given the death penalty for shooting his pregnant partner in the head after she refused to abort. 18-year-old Kalisha Bosier was also shot in the head just two weeks before her due date by an angry partner.
