Some 13 students at DePaul University have been identified who trashed a pro-life display meant to memorialize babies killed in abortions.
The DePaul University Young Americans for Freedom chapter hosted a Flags for Life Project to mark the 40th anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. YAF club members set up 500 flags at 7:00AM Tuesday morning on the DePaul campus (half blue, half pink) to symbolize just some of the lives lost every day due to the injustice of abortion in our nation.
At about 5:00PM Tuesday evening the DePaul YAF chairman, Kristopher Del Campo, along with other executive board members, went to remove the flag display. But what they found was startling; the flags had been removed and stuffed into trash bins inside and outside the entrance to the DePaul library.
Del Campo contacted the DePaul Public Safety to look into the incident.
Now, Kevin Connolly, an investigator for DePaul’s public safety department, has posted a report on what happened. The report lists the names of the 13 students he said admitted to trashing the pro-life display.
“The above students all admitted in person to participating in the removal of the pink and blue flag display from the quad on January 22, 2013,” Connolly wrote. “They stated they are classmates, and had seen anti-abortion posters around campus earlier in the day that they found offensive. They had an emotional discussion prior to class, and after class they all walked out to the quad together. They then started pulling up all the flags and put them in garbage cans and carried some off to their next class.”
“All stated they realized that their actions were not appropriate,” he said.
He indicated the students were identified using videotape and Del Camp says she wants those involved in the vandalism to go through the university’s judicial process. The university indicates that process has started.

Students for Life of America emailed LifeNews in response.
“What is wrong with the level of discourse within the pro-abortion community that 13 students felt free reign to destroy another student group’s display? As we have seen time and again, pro-aborts can’t respond to arguments, they have to resort to vandalism. Not only do they disrespect the lives of the pre-born, they also disrespect the rights of their peers to have their views heard,” said Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life of America. “I’m glad to see DePaul University has launched an investigation that has born fruit. I hope they continue to follow through to discipline students and protect free speech on campus.”
