Planned Parenthood: Your Voice Counts, Unless You’re a Baby

Planned Parenthood is promoting the International Day of Human Rights today, but apparently human rights don’t extend to unborn children before birth.

“Today is Human Rights Day. No matter who you are, or where you live, your voice counts,” the abortion business tweeted Monday afternoon.

But if you are an unborn child and you live in the womb, you have no human rights. That’s because Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion business

In its most recent annual report, Planned Parenthood did 329,445 abortions in 2010 while it provided prenatal care to only 31,098 women and referred only 841 women to adoption agencies. The number of women receiving prenatal care dropped significantly from 2009 to 2010, as the abortion business helped 40,489 women in 2009 — meaning almost 10,000 fewer women received prenatal support from Planned Parenthood last year than the year prior, or a drop of almost 25 percent.

The number of women getting adoption referrals also declined — from a low 977 in 2009 to 841 last year, or a decline of 14 percent.

Examined another way Planned Parenthood does 391 abortions for every adoption referral it makes and almost 11 abortions for every woman it helps with prenatal care.

Samuel Casey of the Jubilee Campaign issued a statement saying unborn children, superficially girls targeted by forced abortions, are ignored on this International Day of Human Rights.

“Yet there is likely one population group whose right to participate in public life will be, at best, blatantly ignored, or at worst, completely subrogated in the name of women’s rights: the unborn baby girl,” he told LifeNews. “More than 40 million abortions are performed worldwide each year. More than 85% of all abortions occur in developing countries. Many of these abortions target unborn baby girls, chosen for abortion solely because of their gender. Around the globe, women are missing in the millions—aborted, killed, neglected to death. In 1990 an Indian economist, Amartya Sen, put the number at 100 million.”

“Abortion has become one of the most preeminent threats to human life and dignity because it directly attacks life itself, the most fundamental good and the condition for all others. Abortion, the deliberate killing of a human being before birth, is never morally acceptable, even in the name of furthering women’s abilities to participate more fully in public life,” he said.

“On the occasion of Human Rights Day 2012, we encourage the international human rights community to remember, as most recently documented in the San Jose Articles, that there is no international human right to abortion,” Casey added. “In assessing our obligation to protect human life, We must begin with a commitment never to intentionally kill, or collude in the killing, of any innocent human life, no matter how broken, unformed, disabled or desperate that life may seem.’”
