A robocall the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List will have reaching voters in the final days of the presidential campaign will have former Republican candidate Fred Thompson contacting voters.

The pro-life actor and former Tennessee senator will be asking voters to support Romney and support “thousands and thousands of children who have not yet been born.”

CBN News reporter David Brody provides more details on the phone calls:

The call is part of an effort by the SBA List to make 4 million voter contacts in the final days before the election. The contacts will be in the key swing states of Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and Wisconsin.

It’ll be interesting to see how effective ads like this will be. The abortion issue may not be front and center put it does play a role in the attitude of voters toward a candidate. For example, folks in Southwestern Pennsylvania might respond pretty favorably to a robocall like this. Romney needs the “clings to guns and religion” crowd to come out in that part of PA to win the state.

The script of the call voters will receive reads:

“Hello, this is Fred Thompson.  I want to take just a few seconds to ask for your vote…not for me, but for thousands and thousands of children who have not yet been born.  The fact is that Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion president we’ve ever had.  If he is re-elected, more and more babies will never be born.  If you value human life, you need to cast your vote against Barack Obama.  Thanks for listening.”

“With only four days to go, we are leaving nothing on the table – voters must know this President’s extreme abortion record before casting their vote,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser to LifeNews. “In 2004, 22 percent of voters cited ‘moral values’ including abortion as their most important issue, and 80 percent of those supported President Bush, clinching victory in an election that came down to 537 votes in the swing state of Florida. The pro-life issue is a winner, and pro-life voters are capable of securing victory in close elections. It would be a mistake to trivialize the importance of this voting bloc.”
