200 Million Girls Killed in China, Where Are the Feminists?

Yesterday I stumbled across the trailer for a documentary called It’s A Girl. The 3-minute preview stopped me in my tracks – particularly the part in which an Indian woman matter-of-factly describes how she strangled her newborn daughters. Eight of them.

In America, a mother who did this to her children would be condemned as a psychopath and imprisoned. In India, this mother walks free, one of many who acted on culturally acceptable impulses.

In parts of Asia – especially India and China – baby girls are undesirable, even unacceptable. In China, a ”one-child” policy, enforced by the state with forced sterilizations and abortions, exacerbates gendercide, leading some parents to take matters into their own hands. If you’re allowed only two children, and you already have one girl…well, in a culture where males are valued much more highly than females, it’s not hard to imagine what follows. Baby girls are stuck in sacks and thrown in rivers and down wells, even dumped upside-down in buckets of water.

The United Nations estimates that about 200 million girls are missing from the world due to this rampant genocide – now commonly called “gendercide.” The effects of these heinous practices, as time goes on, could be devastating in parts of Asia, as men look around and realize that all their potential wives do not exist.

It’s A Girl takes a close look at gendercide, its roots, and its effects:

The war against girls is rooted in centuries-old tradition and sustained by deeply ingrained cultural dynamics which, in combination with government policies, accelerate the elimination of girls…

The film tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters’ lives, and of other mothers who would kill for a son. Global experts and grassroots activists put the stories in context and advocate different paths towards change, while collectively lamenting the lack of any truly effective action against this injustice.

Before you start haughtily thinking nothing like this could ever happen in America, I have some bad news for you: this year, the House of Representatives rejected a bill that would have imposed criminal penalties on abortionists if they knowingly aborted a fetus because the mother did not want a child of that gender.

According to the bill’s detractors, there is no problem with sex-selection abortion in the U.S., and this is just another way for mean lady-haters to limit abortion “rights.”

Here in the real world, we know there are sex-selection abortions in the U.S., especially among immigrants from countries such as China and India. Even Guttmacher admits that there is “some evidence” for this, and you know they wouldn’t admit it if they didn’t have to.

A Virginia delegate introduced a state bill this month to ban sex-selective abortions, and women and feminists across Virginia rejoiced that this girl-killing would be stopped, at least in one state.

Oh, wait, no they didn’t.

Virginia delegate Kaye Kory, Fairfax Democrat, said it’s “an insult” that men are so heavily involved in litigating such matters, and Mr. Marshall’s measure was a thinly veiled attempt to move toward making abortion illegal in the state.

This is one of those internet statements that made me have to put my laptop down and walk in a circle for a minute, holding my head.

This woman – this woman – says it’s an insult that a man wants to make it illegal to abort babies just because they are girls.

Do you know what is actually an insult? That abortion has become such a political tool that women don’t even think anymore about what it is. It’s just a word, a word that means “feminism, women’s rights, rah rah rah!” And you have to support it in every way, to any extreme, asking no questions, or you are anti-woman.

Do you know what else is actually an insult? That a man had to propose this legislation. It should have been you, Kaye Kory, Fairfax Democrat. She also said this (get ready):

I think men have no clue what it’s like to contemplate what it’s like to go through an abortion,” she said. “Of course we don’t like the idea that someone might want an abortion because someone doesn’t want the sex of the child the fetus is, but I think the state needs to stay out of social issues like abortion.

You’re right: the state should totally stay out of social issues, like health care and gay marriage. Oh, wait…

Abortion is not a “social issue.” Abortion is killing.

But, I mean, come on. Nearly a quarter of a billion girl-children, unborn and born, have been killed. But that’s in Communist China, and the scary third-world parts of India, not clean, enlightened, liberal, democratic America, where human rights matter. Right? I mean surely – surely! – the woman-loving, pink-crap-wearing, lady-rights-protecting über-feminists at America’s number-one abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, object to sex=selection abortion!

Wrong. Wrong. Wrongity-wrongy-wrong.

As Live Action discovered and revealed, if you go to Planned Parenthood for an abortion and tell them you want to end your pregnancy because you don’t want a girl, their reaction will be the same as if you told them you were a sex-trafficked 14-year-old, or the victim of statutory rape. In other words, they will take your money and abort your baby.

Why oh why would anyone in America reject the horrifying, misogynistic third-world practice of gendercide? Well, because if you don’t love abortion with 100% of your heart, you hate women. Remember? And Planned Parenthood is synonymous with abortion. And ladies, we all know Planned Parenthood is our loving protector. We are wrapped in their protective, pink-clad arms. Without them, we would be set upon by snarling white Christian men coming to take our uteruses and use them to farm Kirk Cameron clones.

The truth is: abortion is big business. Huge business. And when you outlaw abortion in the U.S. for any reason, Planned Parenthood loses money. It doesn’t even matter to them that nearly a quarter of a billion women are missing from the world. What matters is that taking a stand against the genocide of females will cost them some dough.

You have not heard the last from me on this film or this problem. I look forward to screening It’s a Girl, bringing you more on gendercide abroad, and continuing to expose the fauxminists’ shameful failure to take a stand against it at home.
