Fresh from his endorsement of Mitt Romney in the presidential race, evangelical pastor Billy Graham is urging Christians to vote with their Biblical and pro-life values in the upcoming election.

Graham is running full-page advertisements (right) in a number of newspapers across the country, urging voters to vote for candidates that support biblical values of life and religious liberty.

“The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren, and this great nation is crucial.  As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this could be my last,” he said. “I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.  Vote for biblical values this November 6th, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.”

Mathew Staver, Chairman of Liberty Counsel, a pro-life legal group, applauded Graham for his stance.

“This is unprecedented for the world’s best-known evangelist. Billy Graham has always steered clear of politics,” he said. “That’s why I must tell you that this statement by Rev. Billy Graham is incredibly important for many reasons.”

“Billy Graham has publicly recognized how critical this election is for biblical values of life, marriage, and religious liberty and urges people to vote in support of these values,” Staver said. “In reality, Billy Graham has merely raised his prophetic voice like any preacher should when biblical and moral values are placed in jeopardy by politicians. Graham is boldly modeling what we have been telling pastors and churches.”

“Right now, there are very hotly contested congressional races all across the nation – especially in battleground states – that will determine the makeup of the House and Senate. The balance of the 113th Congress will most assuredly help steer our nation one way or another. It will greatly impact the agenda and pursuits of the executive branch – and likely the makeup of the Supreme Court should any sitting Justices retire or step down,” Staver added. “As Dr. Graham so eloquently stated, there is so much at stake for the future of our families and nation.”
