The Planned Parenthood abortion business in Missouri got local police there to arrest an 80-year-old woman for praying outside its facility during the 40 Days for Life event.

Rita Sparrow was part of the 40 Days for Life campaign in St. Louis but the 80-year-old woman was arrested today after sitting in a chair outside of the local Planned Parenthood abortion facility.

Brian Westbrook, Executive Director of the Coalition For Life St. Louis, provided LifeNews with more details.

“There were three police cars asking an 80 year old woman to no longer pray in front of the Planned Parenthood. She is tired and has brought a chair to sit on and peacefully pray for an end to abortion,” he said. “The Planned Parenthood staff are complaining and have found a incorrectly written ordinance on littering to accuse this volunteer of.”

Westbrook explained: “She was told she needed a permit and to call the St. Louis street department. When the street department was contacted the Coalition for Life Executive Director Brian Westbrook was told that “You don’t need a permit for that.”

Sparrow was arrested and taken to the local police station and was later released to join the other prayer volunteers on the sidewalk, though without her chair.

The St. Louis pro-life advocate is upset that police have not allowed pro-lifers to engage in their Free Speech rights uninhibited.

“The police have been harassing these peaceful volunteers for the last 3 months on a consistent bases ignoring the 30 plus years of similar peaceful activities before this time with no incidents,” Westbrook said.
