Students for Life of America team members made sure to greet Planned Parenthood’s Big Pink Bus Tour (https://www.ppav.org/ppavirginia/big_pink_bus_tour) when it stopped in Richmond, VA yesterday. We held a 10 foot banner that listed the names of women who have been killed by legal abortion in the U.S., including Tonya Reaves (www.operationrescue.org/archives/planned-parenthood-ignored-instructions-to-call-911-in-tonya-reaves-abortion-death/), the woman killed this year by a Planned Parenthood in Chicago.

Before the rally even began, Planned Parenthood supporters were asking about the names listed. One of the main talking points that Planned Parenthood supporters use is, “we will never go back to back-alley abortions.”

So what does one say when confronted with the list of 347 women who have died after abortion became legal? It was almost ironic when a woman carrying a coat hanger with “never go back” written on it came up to us stating that she refused to go back to the days when women died from abortions performed in alleyways. She ignored any statements we made about how she was looking at the names of women were killed while a legal abortion was taking place.

Tina Whittington, our Executive Vice President, explained to one woman, who tried to block our banner, how Planned Parenthood enables both the death of babies and women. The woman would not concede to the fact that while Planned Parenthood actually does some (albeit little) good for women, they do kill pre-born babies and women. The woman insisted that the little good the organization did was reason enough to overlook the deaths.

I came away from the event feeling empowered. We are on the side that is truly fighting for the lives of both women and babies while Planned Parenthood is busy trying to keep their right to kill.

While Students for Life of America fights for the lives of mothers and their pre-born babies, Planned Parenthood enables the death of both.

The complete list of women who have died from legal abortion, which experts estimate is much higher since many abortion deaths are never reported as such, can be found here.
