Actress Ellen Barkin created a stir on Twitter today when she sent out a re-tweet of a message someone sent saying they hoped Hurricane Isaac would hit the Republican convention and “was every pro-life, anti-education, anti-woman, xenophobic, gay-bashing, racist SOB right into the ocean.”

The reaction from conservatives was quick to her class-less Tweet.

“I wonder if @EllenBarkin will feel badly at all when #Isaac doesn’t wash the GOPers out to sea but in fact wipes out New Orleans,” one person responded.

Bryan Kemper, Director of Youth Outreach for Priests for Life, said: “This is why we call pro-abortion people anti-life.”

“It is no surprise to me that the pro-abortion side would have things like this to say about other human persons, they already stand for the slaughter of innocent people inside the womb why not expand that slaughter to outside the womb?” Kemper added. “We have a President who cannot even acknowledge that a baby outside the womb is a human child, why should we expect any different from his supporters in Hollywood. Can you imagine the media uproar if Rush Limbaugh has tweeted this? Can you imagine how crazy Rachel Maddow would be going if any conservative or pro-lifer publicly called for a hurricane to kill people?”

“This is simply unacceptable for anyone to call for the mass death of people they don’t agree with. I have to ask Ellen Barkin a question, if hurricane Isaac does actually claim lives, will you be celebrating once you find out what political party they belong too?” Kemper said.

Another added, “I’m pretty liberal but isn’t it kinda racist to wish people with a different belief death?”

After coming under criticism, Barkin attacked the conservative web site Twitchy, which called her out on the tweet.

“For better or worse, that was not my original tweet.A retweet. But Twitchy liked it better their way,” she said. Barkin then called the founder of the web site, pro-life columnist Michelle Malkin, a lair, saying, “Great tells of a liar blinking, avoiding eye contact, repeating question asked them…and…TWITCHING.Aptly named. Michelle Malkin is a genius.”

But Twitchy responded: “Twitchy didn’t misrepresent the disgusting retweet as a tweet written by Barkin. In fact, Twitchy didn’t report on Barkin’s tweet at all … until now. Evidently facts come as easily to the unhinged actress as tolerance and civility.”

“As many Twitter bios indicate, a retweet is not necessarily an endorsement. But Barkin didn’t give any indication that she disagreed with the revolting sentiment when she retweeted it to her followers. Instead, she falsely accused one conservative Twitter user of wishing ill on New Orleans,” it added.
