100 Days to the Election: Pro-Lifers Get Involved NOW

There are just 100 days left until the presidential election that leading pro-life groups say could impact the legality of abortion in the United States for another 40 years.

Father Frank Pavone, the head of Priests for Life, says that, for people who believe in the sanctity of all human life, Election Day is the most important day of the year.

“With just 100 days to go, we all need to make sure we’re doing everything we can to encourage friends, family members, co-workers – everyone we know —  to make plans to get out and vote,” he said.

Pavone is encouraging pro-life advocates to get involved in the following activities between now and the presidential election to make a difference for life.

*Organize a voter registration drive at your church on Sept. 9,. Voter Registration Sunday (www.priestsforlife.org/vote).

*Encourage youth who will turn 18 by Election Day to register.

*Begin making plans for transporting senior citizens and those without transportation to the polls.

*Remind those who will be away on Election Day to obtain absentee ballots.

*Look into early voting rules in your state (www.priestsforlife.org/states).

*Print out the Priests for Life Voter Guides and distribute them (www.priestsforlife.org/candidates).

*Become familiar with candidates running at every different level of government, and find out specifically where they stand on abortion, euthanasia and embryonic stem-cell research.

“One of the most important things we do as Americans is to elect public servants who know the difference between serving the public and killing the public,” Fr. Pavone said.

Marjore Dannenfelser is also underscoring the importance of the upcoming election for pro-life voters.

“It’s no secret that Planned Parenthood sees 2012 as an opportunity to bury the pro-life movement. They’ll spend whatever it takes to defend Barack Obama and his pro-abortion Congressional allies,” she says. “And it’s not hard to see why.”

“This week President Obama said he supports Planned Parenthood because he wants his two daughters to be able to “control their own health care choices.” Now, this yesterday we find that he once again is using code words like “choice” and “control’ to trample the rights of states and force pro-life taxpayers to fund the abortion business,” Dannenfelser said. “That’s right. Once again, President Obama has overruled a state legislature — this time in North Carolina — that has defunded the abortion industry. He has stepped in to send taxpayer funds directly to the nation’s #1 abortion provider. We’ve simply got to stop this.”

“If anything, Planned Parenthood is smart. They know the best thing they can do to expand abortion is to win big in the 2012 election by propping-up pro-abortion politicians. They will spend millions to see this happen. It’s our mission to ensure they don’t succeed,” Dannenfelser continued. “Time is running out for you to have a significant impact on the 2012 elections.”
