Tides Foundation, Soros Send Millions to Planned Parenthood

Last Monday, June 18th, 2012, Michigan State Representative Lisa Brown (D-West Bloomfield) performed the shocking and undignified Vagina Monologues with leftist feminist and Monologue author Eve Ensler, other state legislators, and local actresses on the steps of the state capitol in Lansing.

Every year, the infamous radical feminist play is performed by scantily clad female college students across America in what they refer to as awareness for “sexual violence.” Moreover, Hollywood actresses, such as Whoopi Goldberg, Winona Ryder, Kate Winslet, and Cate Blanchett, have happily performed the play to seemingly raise attention for “women’s rights.”

In reality, the play has little to do with helping terrible injustices, such as violence against women and violated human rights. The play, in all truth, is pornographic. Performers recite monologues that positively discuss such sexually perverse topics as rape. With monologues that have titles that the average person would be ashamed to utter out loud (too graphic to print here), the “play” is, in truth, a sham and the very antithesis of its supposed goals–empowering young women through humanitarian issues.

This performance of the Monologues was the highlight of a nasty protest event, “Vaginas Take Back the Capitol!”, which was organized by pro-abortion activists. The reason for this event was to counter a temporary ban on Rep. Brown’s speaking privileges after she broke House decorum with the following quote, “And finally Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you are all so interested in my vagina, but no means no.”

Rep. Brown’s comments reflected her contempt for HB 5711, a pro-life bill that bans coerced and webcam abortions. The bill protects women and unborn children by requiring abortion clinics to provide information for women who feel intimidated or threatened and by acknowledging the human physiological features of 10 week-old unborn children.

The main organization that sponsored this event was V-Day, which supposedly “generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.” Although V-Day claims to be fighting for just causes, it unfortunately degrades women by reducing them to their sexual organs.

V-Day also partners with the Tides Foundation, a leftist, progressive 501(c)(3) organization founded by Drummond Pike. The Tides Foundation has been notorious for funding Planned Parenthood.

In 2007, the Tides Foundation awarded a $1,026,326.00 grant to Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and a $145,593.93 grant to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. In 2009, the organization doubled their donation to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America with a $292,316.71 grant.

Additionally and not surprisingly, George Soros, a leftist billionaire who finances numerous anti-American and anti-life causes, is well-known for funding the Tides Foundation. Soros’ organization, the Open Society Institute, has donated $18,154,270 to the Tides Foundation, along with $2,570,000 to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, since 1999.

Women’s rights? Advocating against sexual violence? In reality, the Vagina Monologues is nothing more than a pornographic display of sexual promiscuity funded by this multi-million dollar partnership among V-Day, the Tides Foundation, and Planned Parenthood.
