Pro-Abortion Group NARAL Endorses Obama for Re-Election

President Barack Obama today secured the endorsement of one of the leading pro-abortion groups, NARAL, in his bid to win another four-year term in the White House, where he has steadfastly pushed the abortion agenda and taxpayer funding of abortions.

“I’m proud to announce that NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC is endorsing President Barack Obama for re-election,” outgoing NARAL president Nancy Keenan said in a email today to supporters that LifeNews obtained.

“It’s simple: during his time in office, President Obama has demonstrated his commitment to supporting and defending women’s reproductive freedom,” Keenan said about Obama’s pro-abortion credentials.

She praised Obama for signing Obamacare into law and instituting the HHS mandate that forces religious groups to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs for their employees. She praised Obama for cutting abstinence education programs and refusing to cut funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. And Keenan praised Obama for pledging to veto two pro-life bills that passed out of the U.S. House of Representatives — H.R.3, which would ban all forms of taxpayer funding of abortions at the federal level, and H.R.358, the Protect Life Act, which would zero out abortion funding in Obamacare.

Keenan complained that pro-life advocates are “filling Mitt Romney’s coffers with millions of dollars to take this election – and choice – out of our hands” and appealed to her group’s members for funds to support Obama during the 2012 election.

“Please watch our endorsement video and then make a contribution to help us re-elect President Obama, and continue to protect choice at all levels of government. We must keep the White House pro-choice this November,” Keenan said. “The time is now to stand in the face of these extremists and fight for the rights of women everywhere. You can protect choice and reproductive-health care for women across America by joining us right now.”

Keenan and Obama have been buddy buddy since his election in November 2008 and Obama invited Keenan for one of the Christmas parties it hosted on December 14. The logs show Keenan and the president of Planned Parenthood getting big access.

Obama hosted a party with 661 total people at the “Holiday Reception” party honoring Christmas and other holidays in mid-late December. Keenan received an invitation to the event, which took place during the late afternoon and evening hours.

But that was hardly the only time Keenan has been to the White House since Obama took it over in January 2009. Keenan has been a guest at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a total of 10 times during Obama’s 13 months in office.

Keenan primarily enjoys celebrations and ceremonial visits with the president — as she also appeared at a luncheon in January 2009 celebrating Obama’s election and a cocktail party on February 18, 2009.

The NARAL leader made her way to the White House again in March when Obama signed the executive order to force taxpayers to pay for embryonic stem cell research and she appeared at a May event to tout the confirmation of the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
