I know many of you were disappointed yesterday when Sen. Rick Santorum, a staunch pro-life advocate, dropped out of the race for President of the United States. Many have expressed to me through email and Facebook, their lack of energy behind Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, which is highly concerning.
Before I go any further I would like to make the following disclaimer: SFLA is not a political organization and therefore we are not in the practice of endorsing candidates. So what follows is by no means an endorsement of any candidate.
I want to encourage all pro-lifers to keep their “eye on the ball” when thinking about the election this November.
I wholeheartedly believe it is our moral duty to do everything we can to kick the abortion president, Barack Obama, out of office. President Obama, since Day 1, has been an unwavering advocate for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and the entire abortion industry. Every step of the way, the President and his administration have tried to silence our movement and increase the political and financial strength of those who kill children for a living.
With that being said, many of us in the movement, though, have reservations about Gov. Mitt Romney. Even though, we have been reassured by many Massachusetts family and pro-life leaders of his credentials and Gov. Romney, himself, has pledged to be a pro-life President, some of us are still concerned. And we should continue to raise these concerns to Gov. Romney to make him work for the pro-life vote.
And holding the candidates feet to the fire shouldn’t just stop at the top of the ticket but rather trickle down to the federal, state and local levels.

As human rights activists, we want to abolish legal abortion in our lifetime. However, with 1-2 Supreme Court vacancies coming up in the near future, we cannot afford 4 more years of President Obama. For if President Obama is re-elected, we know with 100% certainty that he will appoint justices who believe killing preborn children is a constitutional right and our chances of overturning Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and restoring legal protections for the preborn in our lifetime will be slim.
Consider this fact, in 2004, the political Left’s extreme hatred of President Bush was not simply enough to elect Sen. John Kerry. Negative views of one candidate won’t drive people to volunteer for the opposition’s campaign or bring their friends to the ballot box.
In order to defeat President Obama this November, all of us have to become relentless advocates for the preborn this election cycle. Making sure we are volunteering for the opposing campaign, talking to our friends, co-workers, and church family about President Obama’s view vs. his opponent, likely Gov. Mitt Romney.
