One of the top pro-life groups in Washington has released a “State of the Unborn” address as pro-abortion President Barack Obama prepares for his State of the Union address.

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser delivered her second-annual video address nearly forty years after the Roe v. Wade decision. Dannenfelser hailed the groundswell of support for pro-life policies in Congress and among the Republican presidential candidates, who are united in their fight against “the most committed ideologically pro-abortion president in history.”

“All candidates in the Republican primary field have reacted AGAINST the most committed ideologically pro-abortion President in history by uniting in support of three prolife policies,” she said.

“First – Only nominating those who are committed to judicial restraint and the original meaning of the Constitution to the U.S. Supreme Court,” Dannenfelser added. “Second – Advancing and signing into law a Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to protect unborn children who are capable of feeling pain from abortion. Third – The complete and permanent end of all taxpayer funding for abortion and abortion providers both at home and abroad.”

“Along with presidential nominees’ commitment, the US House of Representatives is united in ending taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the nation and a willing enabler of human trafficking,’ she continued. “An organic grassroots movement is now defunding Planned Parenthood state by state and enacting pro life legislation in an historic wave of state based initiatives. Over 60 pro-life bills were enacted last year in state legislatures across the country.”

SBA List director Emily Buchanan says Obama needs to begin addressing the fact that abortion still kills 1.2 million unborn children annually.

“President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address. But today, in numbers greater than ever before, we are focused on the state of the unborn child,” she said. “As Marjorie makes note of in her address, the pro-life movement is at a historic moment. After nearly four decades, we’ve reached the tipping point that comes just before a successful breakthrough.”

“There is much to be excited about—uniform agreement among Republican presidential hopefuls that we should defund Planned Parenthood, and end all taxpayer funding of abortion.  We have also seen the wave of pro-life gains in state legislatures across the country,” Buchanan added. “Enthusiasm, hope, and passion for protecting the lives of unborn children is rising.”

“Please continue standing strong, Steven. Our past successes are no doubt because of your unrelenting activism and voice for unborn children. We need that passion to continue throughout 2012 as we work to elect authentic pro-life leaders and defund America’s abortion giant,” she concluded.
