Today, the Ohio House of Representatives introduced legislation to honor the work of life-affirming pregnancy centers.

Representatives Bill Hayes (R) and Michael Henne (R), along with 25 other representatives, sponsored HCR 32, a resolution that will declare support of the pregnancy resource centers that offer integrity and compassion to women in Ohio.

“This pro-life resolution is a terrific opportunity to start the new year by building upon the pro-life momentum established by our numerous pro-life measures enacted in 2011,” said Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis. “With this resolution, Ohio is boldly advancing towards a more compassionate culture that believes women’s health and their children are a high priority.”
The resolution affirms the good work that over 150 Ohio based pregnancy care centers are doing to provide quality care to women, men, children and the community. Comprehensive services provided by these centers include pregnancy tests, peer counseling, 24 hour hotlines, childbirth and parenting classes, and referrals to community, health care and support services.
“Unplanned pregnancies can bring about a trying time in the life of a young woman,” said resolution sponsor Representative Henne. “With this resolution, we want to honor the compassionate care that these pregnancy centers provide to women when they need it most.”
Resolution sponsor Representative Hayes added, “I’m doing this from my personal experience of being on the Board of the Heartbeats of Licking County and my wife’s volunteer work with Heartbeats. They do tremendous work in the community and I am proud to honor them.”
Ohio Right to Life thanks Representatives Hayes, Henne and all those office holders who have taken the initiative to honor pro-life pregnancy centers and acknowledge the irreplaceable role they play in helping Ohio’s communities.
