Jezebel Honors Planned Parenthood Doc Who Botched Abortion

The pro-abortion blog Jezebel has named as its woman of the year for 2011 a circuit riding abortion practitioner who works for Planned Parenthood and, last month, sent a woman to the hospital after nearly killing her in a failed abortion:

That’s right, the votes are in — and in a close race, Jezebel’s Woman of the Year for 2011 is Dr. X, the anonymous abortion doctor.

As Erin wrote back in October, Dr. X travels the country performing abortions in underserved areas. She wears a Scrooge mask to keep her identity a secret from anti-abortion zealots, and the Santa Fe Reporter writes that “she has sacrificed her schedule, her personal life, her salary, and even her health care.” Now that Operation Rescue has outed her, her safety may be at risk as well. BartletForGallifrey argued that she deserved to be Woman of the Year because she risks her life for reproductive rights, which are increasingly under fire in this country. Twenty-one percent of those who took our poll (that’s over 1,200 readers) agreed.

Hillary Clinton came in a close second with the support of 19% of the few thousand people who took part in the poll.

The Jezebel honoree is Nicola Moore, a Massachusetts-based abortion practitioner who flies to the mid-west to do abortions for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland. She was believed to be the abortion practitioner on duty at the time of the failed abortion that took place in December.

Local pro-life advocates providing abortion alternatives information to women outside the Planned Parenthood of the Heartland abortion facility in Sioux City, Iowa noted that, at 1:30 p.m. local time December 20 an ambulance responded to an emergency call from Planned Parenthood. Once it arrived at the abortion clinic, the ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital.

The pro-life advocates at the scene said they recalled seeing the same woman earlier in the day as she entered the abortion center and her medical condition is unknown at this time. Because if privacy laws, pro-life advocates concerned about the condition of the woman could not ascertain it.

Sherill Glassmaker, a pro-life activist who was just leaving a neighboring pregnancy resource center, noticed the ambulance in the parking lot and began taking pictures to document the incident. Glassmaker said a paramedic working for Siouxland Paramedics took time out from his job to approach her and complain about her presence at the abortion facility. During the conversation with her, he confirmed that he was responding to a 911 call for emergency medical assistance.

As she prayed for the well-being of the woman transported to the hospital, a Planned Parenthood’s security guard mocked her and threatened to file charges against her in an obvious effort to intimidate her for documenting the incident.

Operation Rescue had earlier “outed” Moore as the abortion practitioner paid by Planned Parenthood to come to the Midwest to do abortions because it has had troubles finding local physicians to agree to work at the abortion business.

“According to our investigations, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has long been engaged in practices that endanger the lives of women. This is yet another reason why Planned Parenthood does not deserve even one cent of our tax dollars,” said Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Policy Advisor for Operation Rescue.

She added, “Women who patronize Planned Parenthood or any other abortion clinic literally risk their lives. We plan to file complaints concerning this incident with the appropriate Iowa oversight agencies in order to protect women from Planned Parenthood’s unscrupulous practices.”
